Maman, j’ai raté l’avion (Home Alone) est une comédie familiale américaine réalisée par Chris Columbus, sortie en 1990. Le film connait une suite, sortie en 1992, et intitulée Maman, j’ai encore raté l’avion, ainsi que Maman, je m’occupe des méchants ! en 1997.
La famille McCallister embarque pour Paris pour y passer les fêtes de Noël. Seulement voilà : à bord de l’avion, Peter et Kate McCallister s’aperçoivent qu’ils ont laissé chez eux le plus jeune de leurs fils ; Kevin, âgé de seulement 8 ans. Principalement tourmenté par ses frères et sœurs, il est chétif, insouciant et effrayé (particulièrement par son voisin le mystérieux Père Marley), mais il est aussi très intelligent et débrouillard.
Alors que sa famille tente de faire quelque chose depuis Paris et que sa mère tente tout ce qu’elle peut pour retourner auprès de lui, Kevin, de son côté, est fort content de s’être débarrassé de sa famille, laquelle lui tape souvent sur les nerfs et le met parfois à l’écart en raison de sa position de benjamin. Il goûte alors à une vie tranquille, faisant lui-même les courses et se croyant définitivement seul ; mais il ne sait pas que deux cambrioleurs ont prévu de vider la maison le soir du réveillon de Noël. Il finit tout de même par connaître l’existence de cette inquiétante vérité et devra déjouer les plans de ces deux individus pour protéger sa maison.
